Don’t Miss the Grandes Eaux Nocturnes at Versailles

Think you know the Château de Versailles? Discover another side to this stunning masterpiece of 17th-century architecture thanks to the Grandes Eaux Nocturnes, a spectacular sound and light show which takes place in the palace grounds every summer.

As night falls, the royal estate’s sprawling gardens and water features are illuminated with dazzling light installations and a soundtrack of French baroque music from Reinhard Goebel and his orchestra, the Musica Antiqua Köln.

From ethereal visual effects on the Bassin du Miroir to colourful lasers in the Bosquet de la Colonnade, Versailles’ groves, ponds and fountains are brought to life, before a monumental fireworks display high above the Bassin d’Apollo provides a glittering finale. Arrive at dusk to watch the sun set beyond the Grand Canal and prepare for a truly unique and enchanting experience.

The final show of the season will take place on September 13. Sound and light show 8pm-11pm with fireworks at 10:50pm-11:05pm. Tel: +33 1 30 83 78 89. Tickets: €20-24. Web.
