Located in the small hilltop village of Espenel 3 kilometers from Saillans. This newly built and unique accommodation awaits you for a relaxing stay surrounded by nature in the heart of the hilly landscape between Provence and the Alps. Designed and constructed in an ecological manner, the cottage is for 2 people and is ideal for exploring the surroundings of Die, Roanne gorge, Vercors Regional Natural Park and the forest of Saou.
A modern and ecological construction
Built in 2021, the accommodation was made from natural materials: strawbales, earth plasters and wood. Particular attention has been paid by the hosts to the ecological impact of the furniture too. The entire bed is made using local materials; mattress made in France, and the bed frame is made out of beech from the Pyrenees. The duvets are made of organic cotton, therefore guarantees naturally allergy-free and antibacterial for impeccable comfort and quality sleep. A welcome basket awaits your arrival with some local wine, biscuits and some home-made soap with lavender from the owners garden.
The cottage is extremely comfortable with the straw bale insulation and earth plasters regulating humidity and temperature. The 40 m² building, includes a fully equipped kitchen with oven and electric hob, a large bathroom with shower and bath, and a pleasant living/dining room with a view of the Drôme mountain valley. To make the most of the exceptional environment between vineyards, walnut trees, and mountains, make sure to relax and eat on the 17 m² terrace.
There is also off road parking with designated space.
A cornucopia of adventures and activities await
Close to the famous Trois Becs mountain range, in the heart of the famous Clairette de Die vineyards, Espenel is a privileged place for lovers of nature and outdoor activities.
The Drôme River is just a 10-minute walk away with bathing areas, the Roanne river valley is a 5-10-minute drive for waterfalls and pools. Forest and mountain walks surround the accommodation. There are many local activities including canoeing, canyoning, horse riding, mountain biking, walking, wine tasting, paragliding, skiing, etc.
The host of the Gîte du Haut de Pierron is an Anglo-French couple that have lived in the region for years and can suggest activities and visits that are a must in the region.
