The Bordeaux Wine Festival

The Bordeaux Wine Festival

Let the countdown begin. Bordeaux Fête Le Vin will be arriving in La perle d’Aquitaine in just a matter of days. Alternating years with Fête la Fleuve (the river festival), the 9th edition of the wine festival will take place on June 26-29 on the banks of the Garonne.

Oenophiles will find their bliss on the riverside quay where wineries set up pavilions and tasting tents along a 2 kilometre route, accessed with a tasting pass. This is the best place to taste the bounty of the world’s wine capital—some 80 appellations from Bordeaux and the Aquitaine region– all in one place.

In addition to the pours, visitors can enjoy wine seminars, concerts, street theatre, barrel rolling competitions, and a beautiful sculpture garden, filled with giant wine bottles decorated by contemporary artists. This year’s guest of honour is sister city, Los Angeles, so there will be festive events galore, including open-air film screenings, an homage to Hollywood.

Not to miss: the famous sound and light show, projected on the façades of the majestic 18th century buildings that make up the UNESCO World Heritage-listed city center.
