Le Bain et Le Miroir

(Part I)

Subtitled Body Care and Cosmetics from Antiquity to the Middle Ages, an exhibit in honor of the newly restored frigidarium in the ruins of ancient Roman baths beneath the Cluny Museum, with paintings, sculpture, tapestries and such necessities as perfume bottles, combs, mirrors, and jars for makeup, lotions and creams. A parallel show is at the Musée de la Renaissance-Château d’Ecouen.

(Part II)

In tandem with the exhibit at the Musée de Cluny in Paris, an exhibit documenting body care and cosmetics during the Renaissance, with 130 paintings, drawings, engravings and a panoply of useful accoutrements for bath and beautification, at the Musée de la Renaissance-Château d’Ecouen.
