Coco Before Chanel

Audrey Tautou stars as the legendary designer in the new French film “Coco Before Chanel,” set to be released in France on April 22, and then in the United States later this year. The biopic follows Chanel from her early years as an orphaned seamstress and shop girl to an ambitious entrepreneur and a style icon in the making. The film, which is loosely based on the book L’Irregulière by Edmonde Charles Roux, was written and directed by Anne Fontaine, who conceived of the project with Tautou in mind.
