French Film Review: Arrête Avec Tes Mensonges

Novelist Stéphane Belcourt (Guillaume de Tonquédec) agrees to be the brand ambassador for a famous cognac which is celebrating its bicentennial and returns to his hometown for the first time in many years. There he meets his first love’s son, Lucas (Victor Belmondo), and memories come rushing back to him: irrepressible attraction, the heat of desire, a passion that can never be revealed… His first love’s name was Thomas and they were 17.

Adapted from Philippe Besson’s award-winning semi-autobiographical book, this is a deeply moving, tender film, exquisite in its honesty, with fine performances from all its actors.

Director: Olivier Peyon

Starring: Guillaume de Tonquédec, Victor Belmondo

Arrete avec tes mensonges is one of the finest films I have ever seen. The actors are all first rate, and the movie has lingered long in my memory. I am trying to find the name of the popular, perhaps rock, song playing while the two lead actors danced in a memorable scene with such joy and abandon. Please advise me of whether you know the name of that song.
