France Today Live Masterclass – Albert Camus: Revolt, Reason and Resistance
Thursday, June 12th 12:30 – 14:30 (EST)
In this Masterclass, we will delve into the life, philosophy, and literary works of one of the 20th century’s most influential thinkers. In part one Professor Zaretsky will provide a comprehensive overview of Camus’ life and literary career from his humble beginnings in French Algeria in 1913 to becoming a Nobel Prize-winning author, journalist, and philosopher. After a brief intermission, part two will focus on a key theme in Camus’s fiction and philosophy: the ethical imperative of rebellion. Professor Zaretsky will guide participants through a discussion of The Plague and The Rebel, works that are both timeless and all too timely.
