The South of Beaujolais, called the Pierres Dorées region, is a setting of gold-coloured limestone, with castles and remarkable viewpoints. It is home to many small, picturesque villages such as Ternand, Chatillon d’Azergues, Charnay, or Oingt, classified among the most beautiful villages in France.

The Monts du Beaujolais, western part of the region, are covered with magnificent pine forests. You can recharge your batteries in this preserved corner of nature, hike on the paths of the Col de Crie, swim in the Lac des Sapins (largest biological swimming pool in Europe), climb Mont Saint-Rigaud to find yourself on the highest peak in the department at 1009 meters and enjoy a breathtaking view!

In Pays Lyonnais, to the west of Lyon, it is a superb hilly countryside that awaits you! As a family, you can find yourself in a cottage on the farm to enjoy the fresh air and taste the delicious local products (cheeses, red fruits, jams, honey, saffron, meat, etc.). The region is also rich in beautiful discoveries: perched village of Yzeron, Courzieu zoo, Convent of La Tourette, medieval park Salva Terra…

Further south of Lyon, the Pilat Natural Park / Condrieu region is a real playground where you can practice all kinds of outdoor activities. At Roches-de-Condrieu, for example, you can go rafting, kayaking or water skiing at the nautical base. From there, how about renting a Segway (single-seater electric vehicle) to discover the vineyards with exceptional vintages (Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Saint-Joseph) As for history lovers, they won’t leave without having traveled back in time to the superb Gallo-Roman museum and site of Saint-Romain-en-Gal, on the banks of the river.
