Issue 200 (April/May 2024)

Welcome to this very special celebratory 200th edition of France Today,  in which we toast a remarkable landmark in the magazine’s long and illustrious history. When we first started to plan this anniversary issue, we knew that we wanted to create some kind of ‘bucket list’ of French favourites. Little did we know that the resulting contributions from readers, writers and tourism partners would yield such a rich and varied collection of recommendations.

As well as some of the expected favourites, there are also villages, films and restaurants on the list that we now wish to explore ourselves – turn to page 43 and immerse yourself in pure Hexagone love – perhaps you will find your next city break, museum or French singer to fall for.

As in every issue, our contributors bring you a wide range of superb locations and experiences to inspire future trips to France – from sipping Parisian cocktails to exploring the beauty of Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, from marking 80 years since the loss and heroism of D-Day, to the Best Sommelier in the World contest. We also reveal how to bake the French way thanks to Ferrandi Culinary School and honour two French cultural giants: Jacques Tati and Johnny Hallyday.

All this plus your favourite regulars: language learning pages, best reader photos, prize crossword, recipes, What’s on Guide, restaurant reviews and much more.
