5 Top Deals in the Vendée

If you’re searching for an idyllic summer holiday destination or a quick break from the hectic pace of life, the Vendée has it all. In the current economic situation, bargains are even more crucial when planning your holidays. Thankfully, destinations, activities, and accommodation options across the Vendée have some great deals across the high season and low season.

1. Camping

Whether you’re camping as a family or with friends, there are plenty of great deals to be found in the Vendée. Enjoy a cheap base for coastal excursions to the 250km of stunning coast and 140 km of beautiful sandy beaches that can be found along the Vendéan Côte de Lumière.

Campsites are also offering outstanding deals — including up to 20% off on the total price of a stay between 25 May and 7 July on rentals and pitches (until 31 March). Stay at Château la Forêt, a peaceful 4-star campsite just 14 km from the sea. There’s plenty to do with 2 water parks, wine tasting, culinary workshops, and more. Brilliant offers are also available for both the high season and the low season.

2. Self-catering cottages

Fancy eating your morning tartines on a sun-soaked terrasse? Extend your holiday with a 10% discount on long stays (over a week) at the picturesque rural Le Fournil de l’Emilière or the modern Les Présidents, just a few minutes from the sea, well as other great gîtes across the département.

Having stayed in a gîte for many years myself in the Vendée, I definitely recommend the freedom of having a home away from home. Plus, you can make the most of the fresh local ingredients on offer to cook up a storm in the kitchen, not to mention your own swimming pool to splash in. If you’re working while on holiday, a gîte also offers you more space to focus. Relax in the countryside with your own swimming pool or pick a place just a few minutes from the sea, depending on your mood.

3. Escape to paradise

Create unique memories on the stunning Ile d’Yeu for just €169 per person. Only 30-45 minutes by boat from Fromentine, you’ll embark on an incredible experience. Included in the price is travel to and from the island, 1 or 2 nights’ accommodation in Port Joinville, breakfast and dinner as well as bicycle rental so you can fully explore the island during your stay.

If you’re looking for an excursion into the woods, head to the grounds of Château du Boisniard in Chambretaud where you can stay in a 5* cabin on stilts — sure to be a memorable experience.

5. Fun-filled activities

From free hotel breakfasts for children to discounted family-friendly activities, the Vendée offers excellent deals for families. Animal lovers have plenty to choose from, including Zoo des Sables and Natur’Zoo de Mervent. Travel into the Earth and through 130 years of coal mining (via simulation) at the Centre Minier in Faymoreau. Train enthusiasts will be delighted by the Vendée Miniature in Bretignolles-sur-Mer.

Want to get some energy out? O’Gliss Park and Le Grand Defi offer myriad outdoor activities. La Route du Sel is also offering discounts on many of its water sports and cycling packages. Plus, there are several stunning chateaux and historical buildings through which you can explore the département’s incredible history.
