You can almost hear the buzz of sewing machines as you step inside the industrial space that defines Hôtel Fabric, formerly a textile factory. The high ceilings and brick walls are softened by mid-century modern chairs and carefully curated vintage pieces, redefining shabby-chic. The hotel’s design preserves the history of its Oberkampf neighborhood, once an industrial center of Paris, now a trendy enclave boasting some of the city’s best eateries. I was impressed with the array of dining and imbibing options just steps away.

Hôtel Fabric’s thirty-three uber comfortable rooms are stylish, spacious and well lit, featuring industrial light fixtures and furnishings. Decorated in vivid prints by luxury design house Pierre Frey, each room bursts in a unique array of colors. The attention to space and detail appealed to the designer in me, I would have welcomed a tour of all thirty-three rooms! The bathrooms, dressed in slate gray tiles combined with artful mosaic prints, provide a haut level of luxury with their rain showers and products by L’Occitane.

In addition to the usual amenities of free WiFi, air-conditioning, and a 24 hour concierge service, this four-star boutique hotel includes a Bains de Marrakech spa, gym, yoga space and honesty bar. After a heavenly sleep, the French buffet breakfast provided the energy I needed to explore the neighborhood, followed by a visit to the spa…
