L’Arena
This very popular restaurant and bar above the Port Vieux in Biarritz has indoor and outdoor seating. Local fish dishes are a speciality, and the eatery offers a fine plat du jour every lunchtime. Great for sunset suppers.
Le Royalty
This historic Biarritz town-centre institution, on place Georges Clémenceau, was recently taken over, and renovated, by former rugby star-turned-restaurateur Pascal Ondarts.
Auberge Kaïku
Nicolas Borombo’s one-Michelin-star fare puts an Asian/world cuisine twist on Basque staples – and it’s blooming delicious. The unobtrusive locale – a stone’s throw from Saint-Jean-de-Luz bay – is a dream too.
