The Cannes Film Festival

Les chats Persans (“The Persian Cats”) premiered at Cannes today. The film was directed by Iranian filmmaker Bahman Ghobadi and co-written with his partner, the Iranian-American journalist Roxana Saberi, made famous this week due to her imprisonment and subsequent release by the Iranian government on suspicion of espionage. Although expected, Saberi was not present on the red carpet.
