Galerie Gosserez
In the Marais, auctioneer Marie-Bérangère Gosserez recently launched her contemporary design Galerie Gosserez devoted to exclusive signed, limited editions of young 21st-century designers. Standouts include Belgian designer Alain Gilles’s lacquered steel Tension Table, composed of individual triangular sections that can be rearranged at will or whim, in black or a confetti array of violet, pink, red, orange and yellow.
The bowl-shaped Random 8 outdoor chair, by the Lyonnais design duo PITAYA, is made of triangular panels of Radiant Plexiglas that refract a kaleidoscope of colors in sunlight. Whimsical offerings from Mexican designer Valentina Glez Wohlers include the Prickly Chair, an 18th-century French chair sprouting cactus branches at the back, with a shocking-pink wood frame and bright green fabric upholstery; and the surprisingly comfortable Ghost of a Chair—a sheet of transparent polyester that seems draped over thin air. There is also a selection of “20th-century antiques” by such names as Alessandro Mendini, Pierre Paulin and François Azambourg.
