French Film Reviews: Demain Tout Commence, Starring Omar Sy

Womaniser Samuel’s carefree life on the Côte d’Azur is turned upside down when a former fling, Kristin, shows up with a baby. She hands the baffled bachelor the crying bairn before making a break for it. His naïve plan to fly to London in pursuit of the runaway mother, and return the baby, goes awry as the elusive Kristin is nowhere to be found.

Flash-forward eight years and Samuel is a devoted – if a tad unorthodox – father to Gloria, plying his trade as a stuntman. Then, out of blue, Kristin finally reappears… Surprisingly tender, the measured plot glimmers with hope. Few ‘dramedies’ hit the mark so flawlessly.

Director: Hugo Gélin
Starring: Omar Sy, Clémence Poésy
