French Film Reviews: Bang Gang, Directed by Eva Husson

Subtitled A Modern Love Story, the debut feature from Eva Husson is familiar territory for anyone who ever saw Kidulthood, or similar examinations of the care-free (and then utterly careworn, ruined and tragic) lives of skinny adolescents.

Bang Gang depicts a gang of physically attractive but otherwise repellent kids who have sex parties, which are filmed by an online porn website. Of course, disease, teenage pregnancy, and above all, the villainous exploitation of the film’s core characters is not far behind, and the whole thing turns into more of a precautionary tale than the kind of titillation it might at first seem.
