Classic Film: Les Parapluies de Cherbourg
This 1964 sung-through musical romance, written and directed by Jacques Demy, tells the tale of beautiful young Geneviève (Catherine Deneuve), who works at an umbrella boutique in rainy Cherbourg. She meets and falls in love with handsome mechanic Guy (Nino Castelnuovo) but their romance is cut short when he is drafted to the Algerian War. Pregnant, Geneviève marries an older businessman instead. Utterly gorgeous… grab the tissues!
