The Saint Louis Festival Makes a Splash in Sète

The most popular event of the year in Sète showcases the fiery spirit of the Mediterranean port city. Yes, the Saint- Louis Festival can get a little rambunctious at times, but it’s all balanced by the fun street shows, workshops, a cycle race, bodegas and the spectacular jousting tournaments.

This ancient maritime tradition is now recognised as a sport in its own right, a living heritage with its own codes, rituals and even its own songs. All this under the benevolent gaze of Louis, the town’s patron saint, who has been celebrated every year since the creation of the harbour in 1666.
