Explore the Great Outdoors in Troyes La Champagne

From lakeside adventures and contemporary art to medieval streets and glorious countryside, Troyes offers a richly varied escape where nature, culture and shopping combine for a relaxed and rewarding break…

ART IN THE OPEN AIR

From May 9 to November 9 this year, L’Art est dans le pré will showcase monumental artworks on the edge of the Forêt d’Orient Regional Natural Park. In the villages, set against Champagne’s landscapes, contemporary art will enter into dialogue with nature.

THE CALL OF THE LAKE

At Lac d’Orient, relax on the beach, try kitesurfing or enjoy a paddleboarding session. Whatever you choose, it promises a wonderfully relaxing summer. When it comes to accommodation, from four-star campsites to charming places to stay, there are plenty of options for lingering a little longer.

SLOW TOURISM IN CHAMPAGNE

Along greenways or beside the canals, the peaceful countryside is perfect for exploring by bike or on foot. The Pays d’Othe’s rolling hills and orchards are perfect for a full escape into nature, with panoramas to admire and quiet paths to explore.

TREASURES AND MASTERPIECES

Until June 21 this year, the Troyes Museum of Modern Art is presenting the remarkable Lavau treasure – burial goods from a 5th-century BC Celtic princely tomb discovered near Troyes in 2015-in a special exhibition. The museum also houses major 20th-century paintings from the national Pierre and Denise Lévy collections, displayed in this luminous setting.

MEDIEVAL HEART, VIBRANT SOUL

Timber-framed houses, picturesque lanes, 10 churches and a Gothic cathedral define Troyes’ identity. There is plenty to marvel at, not least the remarkable collections at the Cité du Vitrail stained glass centre.
