A Look Inside the Buddha Bar Hotel Paris

As featured in France Today’s Hotel Selection 2014, the Buddha Bar Hotel—which opened in June 2013 just a stone’s throw from the chic rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré—is one of the new stars on the Paris hotel scene. The setting is wholly appropriate for a hedonist’s hideaway: housed in a 18th century mansion that once belonged to Augustin Blondel de Gagny, the party-loving events planner for King Louis XVI. Historic details have been lovingly restored, while a smart contemporary design scheme—with Asian motifs galore—creates the experience of a “voyage within a voyage.”

The 56 guest rooms are spacious and equipped with all the latest five-star comforts (like Nespresso machines, Japanese toto toilets, free wifi, and gourmet mini-bars). The smallest rooms start at 29 square meters, which is large by Paris standards. For shopaholics scouting for fashionable finds in the quartier’s boutiques, the Prestige Suites have enviable walk-in closets.

In fact, Buddha Bar Hotel Paris routinely hosts fashion shoots in its historic Suite de Gagny which is one of the most gorgeous crash pads you’ll find in town. With original frescos, Versailles parquet floors, and marble fireplaces, the suite is heritage protected, so the designers created décor that’s like a capsule that can be removed, in its entirety, from the space.

In-house distractions include a small spa, fitness room, garden terrace, and restaurant helmed by chef Rougui Dia, who honed her skills as the head of the Petrossian caviar house’s restaurant

A stay at Buddha Bar Hotel was one of the highlights of last December’s #FrancePassion week, hosted by Atout France USA to celebrate the launch of the France Passion Magazine website. A trio of select bloggers documented the live event, dining in style at the Buddha Bar restaurant after testing out the cocktails, inspired by the four elements, at the hotel’s swank bar. Needless to say, a peek at Buddha Bar inspired quite a few entries for the #FrancePassion contest. (One lucky winner will get a luxury trip to Paris with Business Class flights on Air France included.)
