OpenSkies Celebrates Its First Year

OpenSkies, the all business class airline, turned one last month. Throughout the month of June, OpenSkies celebrated with a large scale promotional campaign, giving away round trip tickets to Paris or Amsterdam on their jets. The lucky winners will find out around their own birthdays if they get to cross the Atlantic in luxury—for free.

British Airways created the OpenSkies brand in 2008, after acquiring a French start-up. BA bet on the idea of a niche market for affordable, business class flying. Currently, OpenSkies flies two planes to Paris and Amsterdam from both Newark and JFK airports in New York. One-way tickets from New York to Paris currently start at under $700.

The young brand is now looking to the future. At a birthday party complete with cake and champagne at the Hudson Terrace lounge in New York on Tuesday, June 30th, OpenSkies Managing Director Dale Moss congratulated his team for their work over the past year. Despite the economic downturn, Moss said he was looking forward to a possible expansion. OpenSkies continues to offer aggressive pricing on flights to France and the Netherlands—good news for a discerning clientele.
