La Nuit des Musées

Initiated in France in 2005, the Nuit des Musées is now held in museums in nearly 40 European countries—last year 3,700 cultural institutions participated, more than 1,200 in France alone. This year, the 8th edition will be held on May 19. Most of the museums offer free admission and remain open late into the night, with special events that include music, theatre, games and cinema.

Among the many events in Paris: concerts at the Archives Nationales,  Musée Carnavalet, Musée de la Vie Romantique, Invalides and Cité de la Musique; a children’s workshop at the Pinacothèque de Paris and video, light and sound installations at various venues.
