Paris Night Life

Skilled clubbers will have noticed a slight change in the name. What was once Chez Régine has become Le Régine and the once-famous nightclub is getting trendy again. The former queen of international nightlife, Régine Choukroun, is no longer connected with it. Its new owner, La Clique—a group that also owns top Parisian nightclub Le Baron and the supertrendy Hôtel Amour—have gradually transformed the former disco temple of the ’70s and ’80s into a happening spot since last September. Jean Nipon, the club’s artistic director, has elected to preserve the vintage atmosphere of the flashy decor while bringing in the hottest and coolest music of the moment. Check the website for goofy videos of Nipon presenting the club’s weekly agenda. (As for Régine herself, she has just released a new record, Régine’s Duets, on which she sings French music hall classics with celebrity performers.)
