Paris: Fauves et Expressionnistes de Van Dongen à Otto Dix
If you’re in Paris this month, be sure to visit the Musée Marmottan Monet in the Sixteenth Arrondissment. Not only is the museum home to the world’s largest collection of paintings by Monet, it also holds the Daniel Wildenstein collection, comprising over three hundred European manuscripts and paintings dating from the 13th to the 16th century. Now, in an exchange with the Von der Heydt Museum in Wuppertal, Germany, the museum is putting on the special exhibit Fauves et Expressionnistes de Van Dongen à Otto Dix: 50 paintings documenting the evolution of modern European art, from the powerful color of Fauvism and Expressionism to the harsh cynicism of the New Objectivity, with works by Dix, Dufy, Kandinsky, Franz Marc, August Macke, Munch, Nolde and Grosz.
Musée Marmottan Monet, 2 rue Louis-Boilly, 16th, Métro: Muette. 01.44.96.50.33. www.marmottan.com €9 Through Feb 10
