Philippe Petit’s New American Stunt

Philippe Petit’s New American Stunt

Philippe Petit, the legendary French high wire artist and the subject of the 2008 Oscar winner for Best Documentary, “Man on Wire,” became famous when he walked between the two towers of the World Trade Center in 1974. Since then, he has tightrope-walked the world over, and is currently the artist in residence at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City. The 59-year-old Petit has begun hinting of late that he will be bringing his high-profile antics back to New York this fall. No location has been announced, but it sounds as if the daredevil is planning a midtown stunt, and is hoping to raise awareness for literacy in the process. Could he be planning to scale a bibliothèque, perhaps?
