La Culture: Art News and Must-See Exhibits in Lille, Picardy, Paris
Mediterranean Reverie
In the 1880s, artists flocked to the Mediterranean and plunged into a magical new approach to light and colour. Now you can lose yourself inside a different paradise, seen through the eyes of Monet, Degas, Chagall, Pissarro, Matisse and Signac, with an immersive digital image and sound display at the Atelier des Lumières in Paris. Showcasing more than 500 works, this monumental visual exploration highlights the link between artistic creativity and the Mediterranean shores as the principal centres of the Modernist movement.
