David Hockney Takes on Paris’ Fondation Louis Vuitton

David Hockney, one of the most influential artists of our time, takes over the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris in grand-scale exhibition.

Titled ‘Do Remember They Can’t Cancel the Spring’, this exceptional showcase will occupy the entire building, featuring more than 400 works spanning 7 decades of the artist’s career, from 1955 to the present day.

Hockney has been personally involved in every aspect of the exhibition, which focuses particularly on the past 25 years of his work while also including iconic early pieces such as A Bigger Splash and Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures), as well as never-before-seen pieces. An entire floor is dedicated to Hockney’s Normandy paintings, created on both canvas and iPad.

The unprecedented scale and scope of this event offers a rare insight into Hockney’s creative universe, showcasing his continuous exploration and insatiable curiosity. As Hockney himself said: “This exhibition means an enormous amount because it is the largest exhibition I’ve ever had – 11 rooms in the Fondation Louis Vuitton. Some of the most recent paintings I’m working on now will be included in it, and I think it’s going to be very good.”
