Winter in New York with FIAF

The legendary English Francophile Jane Birkin comes to FIAF’s Florence Gould Hall for two performances on February 11 and 12. She will sing songs from her new album Enfants d’Hiver, and FIAF also promises that she will perform a few of her “old favorites from her days with [Serge] Gainsbourg.” To purchase tickets or find out more, check out FIAF’s website, and for a full listing of all their events this month, take a look at their rich calendar of events.

Birkin’s appearance comes on the heels of the FIAF’s very successful evening with Hugues de Montalembert.  The artist celebrated the publication of his new book Invisible at Florence Gould Hall with a special screening of the English documentary Black Sun, which tells the story of the 1979 New York attack that left him blind. A Q&A session with de Montalembert followed the screening. Invisible can be purchased on Amazon, as can his earlier book Eclipse, which also addresses how blindness has affected his life and art in the last thirty years. The profoundly touching Black Sun can be rented on Netflix.
