French Film Review: La Bête

This science fiction romantic drama is set in a near future where artificial intelligence dominates and human emotions are seen as threats. Gabrielle, played by Léa Seydoux, undergoes a process to purify her DNA by revisiting her past lives to eliminate any leftover strong emotions. During this joumey, she reconnects with Louis (played by George Mackay), her great love from those previous lives.

The film explores themes of love, identity, and the impact of technology on human emotions. Bonello’s visionary direction and Seydoux’s captivating portrayal make for a compelling and thought-provoking movie which treads a fine line between sci-fi and romantic drama

Director: Bertrand Bonello

Starring: Léa Seydoux, George Mackay
