French Film Review: Schlitter

Rustle up some popcorn and grab a cushion to hide behind here’s one for Halloween. Lucas returns to his childhood village to bury his parents. Haunted by the traumatic death of his best friend Mathias when they were eight, Lucas hopes to leave the past behind, but Mathias’s father, now wheelchair-bound, uncover’s Lucas’s involvement in his son’s death and is hell-bent on revenge. Lucas, along with his girlfriend Julie and friend Arnaud, faces a nightmarish ordeal and, as memories from childhood slowly come back to him, he begins to realise that his silence as a young boy has put everyone’s lives an the line. The consequences are gory, to say the least.
