Villa Windsor is Reopening in Paris

The Villa Windsor, an historic residence in Paris’s 16 arrondissement, is set to reopen to the public after extensive renovations.

The property, in the Bois de Boulogne, has a rich history dating back to 1929 when it was built for politician and businessman Henri Lillaz. The villa served as the family home of General Charles de Gaulle from 1944 to 1946, hosting important political and diplomatic meetings, and gained international fame as the home of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor from 1953 to 1986. Its most recent tenant, businessman Mohamed Al-Fayed, restored the property, taking care to preserve the Duchess’s original decor from 1953. The property is now managed by the Fondation Mansart, which conserves and promotes French heritage sites.

The exact opening date has not been announced but it is scheduled to be in Autumn 2025.
