Evenings out in Paris: Mugler Follies
[Editor’s Note: The Mugler Follies show has been suspended since March 28.]
The words “Mugler reinvents the revue” are emblazoned across the Le Comédia Théâtre and whoever penned it wasn’t wrong! Trailblazing French fashion designer Thierry Mugler has put an imaginatively creative spin on the traditional Parisian cabaret with this left-field show, which offers audiences something delightfully original but always entertaining. And the intimate nature of the heritage-listed venue, in Paris’s bustling 10th arrondissement, means there are no ‘bad seats’ in the house.
Despite the absence of a coherent storyline, the dancing is downright dazzling, the acrobatics jaw-dropping, and the comedic interludes and singing divas a welcome addition to the mix. At times outlandish, the Mugler-designed costumes drew gasps from the audience – fans of George Michael’s 1992 hit, Too Funky, will recognise the iconic motorcycle corset dress featured in the single’s video.
Mugler Follies is glamorous, erotic and wacky – to enjoy a fantastic night out, simply open your eyes and heart to Thierry’s singular vision.
