Restaurant L’Inconnu: Innovative Dining in Paris

I recently had the pleasure of dining at one of the most promising new restaurants in Paris. L’Inconnu opened its doors in November 2015 in the heart of the 7th arrondissement in Paris.

From Japan to Italy, and passing through France, the experiences of Chef Koji Higaki brings the diner the richness of three cultures. But it is Italy that most seduced Chef Higaki, thanks to its market-fresh products and simple cooking techniques. Make no mistake, L’Inconnu is not about fusion cuisine. However, since the chef is Japanese, you will find a subtle Japanese sensibility in the plates. Also, Chef Higaki’s five year experience cooking at the restaurant “Passage 53” (while it obtained 2 Michelin stars) is evident in the finesse of his cuisine.

Using top-notch products, perfect seasonings, and lovely, light sauces, the food is creative and perfectly mastered. At L’Inconnu, I experienced Italian cuisine of the highest level. Even the order of the food courses was original. The small course of pasta follows the main course (fish or meat) because the chef wants his clients to finish their meal with a typically Italian dish.

With 25 seats, the ambiance of the restaurant is simple but elegant. More than 100 wines, mostly Italian (Piedmont and Tuscany), are offered a la carte.

L’Inconnu means “the unknown”. It would be well worth your while to experience– and get to know!— this restaurant.
