The Côte d’Azur Tourism Office calls it “anti-crise”; we call it brilliant. To attract visitors during the economic crisis, the Comité Régional du Tourisme Riviera Côte d’Azur recently launched a new pass called the Côte d’Azur Card. This prepaid electronic passport provides access to over 110 activities in the region—from the coast to the mountain resorts. Museums, nature parks, water sports activities, excursions and tours… There’s something for everyone and every interest.
Hop on the little train in Antibes for some sightseeing; gape at the art collection in the Picasso Museum; catch a horse race at the Hippodrome; kayak for an hour in the Mediterranean off Cap d’Ail; enjoy a cinema-themed guided tour of Cannes, then take the boat ride to see the wine-making monks at the nearby Île Saint-Honorat. These are just a sampling of the card’s many offerings, which are intended to help tourists diversify their holidays, and experience as much of the French Riviera as possible.
Priced at €39 for a three-day adult pass, the Côte d’Azur Card is also a great value. According to the Côte d’Azur Tourism Office, an adult pass has the cash value of nearly €1,000, and a child pass corresponds to a cash value of nearly €560. The card can be purchased online or at local tourist offices.
