Why a Cycling Trip Should be Your Next Holiday in France

France has a lot to offer: mountains and the sea, historic cities, castles, vineyards and culinary delights. Do you want to explore France actively? With Discover France, you are sure to find a suitable experience, or they will create it for you!

Bike travel made easy

For many years, Discover France has been a specialist in bicycle tours in France and Europe, offering a tailor-made travel experience for everyone. For leisure cyclists, adventurers, couples, families, individuals, groups. With self-guided or guided tours, classic or electric bikes. Want to be active, but not necessarily by bike? No problem, there are also walking tours and multi-sport activities on the program. Here is a glimpse of two regions that should not be missed:

The Loire Valley – pedaling from castle to castle

The Loire Valley is best known for its many castles, but that is not all. There are beautiful historic towns and small, charming French villages waiting to be discovered. Or vineyards, where a wine tasting is an excellent idea. From Orléans, you can ride idyllically along the Loire River through the Loire Valley to the Atlantic Ocean. If you are traveling as a family with children, the little ones will also have fun. For example, a visit to the Beauval Zoo, considered one of the most beautiful zoos in the world. Or a trip to the Adventure Park to swing through the treetops instead of pedaling. The tours are suitable for all levels, the main goal is to have fun. And if you love to walk, you can also explore the Loire region on foot.

Provence – scenic and historical diversity

For ambitious cyclists or fans of the Tour de France, it is a well-known classic of Provence: The Mont Ventoux. Do you want to test your strength? Climb the legend by bike! For those who prefer a more leisurely pace, there are impressive tours at the foot of the peak, with the Nesque Gorges (Gorges de la Nesque) or the beautiful lavender fields and vineyards. A visit to one of the numerous wine cellars is definitely worth it!

A little further southwest are two more highlights: Avignon and the Pont du Gard. In medieval Avignon, the city of the Popes, it is up to you how active you want to be. Whether it is a small or large discovery tour by bike or just a day of walking through the alleys, you can do what you feel like. Multisport enthusiasts will not be disappointed either. The Pont du Gard can be admired not only by bike, but also on foot – or by canoe on the river Gardon.
