Grand Corps Malade

His real name is Fabien Marsaud, but after a life-threatening injury a few years ago, he took the nom de scène Grand Corps Malade and continued to perform, his crutch by his side on stage. This year, suddenly, he has become the superstar of slam. With no music behind him, Grand Corps Malade delivers his amazing poetry to audiences more diverse than a Rolling Stones crowd. The artist was born and raised in the working-class suburb of St-Denis. No sweet troubadour, he can be rough and crude, but he also teaches writing to teenagers in hospitals. His CD: Midi 20 (AZ/Universal)
