Martine Visits Galeries Lafayette

You can now discover Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann through new eyes, following the adventures of the beloved children’s book character, Martine, in Martine aux Galeries Lafayette. In the new book, Martine accompanied by her friend Violette and dog Patapouf leads the reader through the majestic grand magasin that’s Europe’s biggest department store.

Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann’s stunning Neo-Byzantine dome alongside its Art Nouveau architecture and panoramic rooftop are beautifully depicted in the signature style of the picture books. This architectural triumph houses over 2,000 brands, making it the ultimate location for shopping in Paris. Visitors can now also experience the Wellness Galerie, 3000m2 dedicated to rest, relaxation and holistic wellbeing. Cross the street to eat at the finest restaurants around at Lafayette Gourmet or stock up on delicious sweet and savoury goods from award-winning tea to celebrity éclairs.

The character of Martine was created in 1954 by Marcel Marlier and Gilbert Delahaye, beginning her life exploring a farm. Since then, the series has been translated into over 30 languages, selling more than 100 million copies around the globe. Over the last 68 years, Martine has visited the zoo, made friends with a ferret, and fought off ghosts. Most recently, Martine travelled to the Louvre and the Chateau de Versailles. Her foray into Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann promises to be another exciting escapade in the series.
