Along the way, cyclists can enjoy local bistros and accommodations equipped with essential services like bike rentals and repairs

3. Exquisite wines  

The region boasts some of France’s oldest vineyards, producing exceptional AOC Jasnières and Coteaux du Loir wines. Wine enthusiasts can meet the winemakers and savour 100% Chenin blanc wines and discover Pineau d’Aunis, a grape variety known for its peppery and spicy notes. A visit to the Maison du Tourisme et du Vin in La Chartre-sur-le-Loir offers insights into these appellations through tastings, activities, and workshops, culminating in a cellar tour and tasting session.

4. The Bercé Forest 

Designated a Forêt d’Exception, the Bercé Forest is home to centuries-old oaks, some of which were used in the restoration of Notre-Dame de Paris after the 2019 fire. The Vallée du Loir is home to three designated Petites Cités de Caractère, all worth a visit. See Baugé and its historic apothecary; Le Lude where the Loir river gracefully crosses the town; and Luché-Pringé with its magnificent view of the Moulin de Mervé. The Loir Valley is also home to many picturesque villages set amidst hillsides covered with woods, vineyards and orchards.
