MUSIC WITH A VIEW
This is one of the younger classical music festivals, in its fourth edition, although its DNA can be traced forty years back, when Éliane Richepin founded the Annecy International Music Center with the twofold purpose of assembling an academy of world renowned artists and teachers, and to promote promising young talent.
The festival allows the public to enjoy an exceptional level of music, inviting international luminaries and organizing master classes and academies. The event takes place in the magnificent lakeside setting of Annecy, in key places in the city and its surroundings, from the Château-Musée to the Église Ste Bernadette, the Cathédrale St. Pierre and the High School of Music.
This year, under the mandate of President Pascal Escande, the program highlights the resident St Petersburg Philarmonic in both chamber and symphonic formation, under the tenured baton of Yuri Temirkanov bringing to life Sibélius, Rimski-Korsakov and Rachmaninov and with guest director Jean-Claude Casadesus, on Chopin, Beethoven and Ravel. There are a few surprises in store as the soirée jazz with the Eroll Garner band and the voice of New Yorker Pauline Jean.
