French Film Review: Don Juan
Jilted on his wedding day, Laurent, a stage actor who happens to be playing the role of the famous seducer Don Juan, cannot help but see his ex-fiancée in every women he meets. In an attempt to mend his broken heart and soothe his bruised ego, he tries to seduce them all – but none are receptive to his elaborate (and musical) advances.
Meanwhile, at the theatre, the leading lady quits and the production brings in – yep, you guessed it – Laurent’s formerfiancée as her replacement. Master of whimsy Serge Bozon directs a contemporary take on Don Juan in this playful and pacy musical in which Tahar Rahim and Virginie Efira shine bright as the singing and dancing, love-me-hate-me couple.
