Normandy

Normandy is a region of northern France known for its coastline of varied beaches including white-chalk cliffs, seaside resorts like Deauville, and WWII’s D-Day landing beaches like Omaha Beach. In the town of Bayeux, with its lovely half-timbered houses, you can see the famed Bayeux tapestry. The rolling hills are dotted with grazing cattle, whose milk supplies the region’s signature butter and cheese. Outstanding destinations include Mont-St-Michel, a medieval pilgrimage site which rises dramatically from the sea.
